Minimum Satellite Imagery Order — What You Need to Know
Satellite imagery is priced per km². Every provider sets a minimum order area to cover the cost of scheduling, processing and delivery. Here is exactly what the minimum is at XRTech and why it is competitive against most global providers.
Archive Satellite Imagery
Previously captured — available immediatelyNew Satellite Tasking
Fresh capture — scheduled on your dateWhy Does a Minimum Order Area Exist for Satellite Imagery?
Satellite scheduling cost
Every order requires allocating an orbital pass. Scheduling, command upload and downlink have fixed operational costs that do not change regardless of how small the area is.
Processing and delivery
Orthorectification, radiometric correction and format conversion are applied per order, not per km². A 10 km² order costs nearly the same to process as a 100 km² order.
Cloud cover guarantees
For tasking with a cloud cover requirement below 10%, the satellite may need multiple passes before capturing a usable scene. A larger minimum area justifies this retry cost.
Minimum Satellite Imagery Order — XRTech vs Industry Standard
| Collection type | XRTech minimum | Industry standard (Maxar / Airbus) | Delivery time | XRTech price from |

| Archive — all resolutions | 25 km² | 25 km² | 48 hours | $1/km² |

FAQ
Do I need a subscription to buy high-resolution satellite imagery?
No. Orders are placed per project with no annual contract or minimum commitment. Minimum order is 25 km² for archive imagery and 100 km² for new tasking with a minimum strip width of 5 km.
What is the highest resolution satellite imagery available from XRTech Group?
XRTech Group delivers 25cm native panchromatic imagery from SuperView Neo-1 03 and 04 satellites, launched in February 2025. Standard commercial archive imagery is widely available at 30cm (0.3m GSD) with daily global revisit. HD resampled processing achieves 15cm effective output for select projects.
Can I request a new image of a specific location?
Yes. New tasking lets you define the exact AOI, date range, resolution, and cloud cover requirement for a fresh satellite collection. XRTech uploads tasking commands globally within 3 hours of a confirmed order. Standard delivery is under 7 days. Emergency delivery is available within 24 hours for urgent projects.
What does near real-time delivery mean?
Near real-time means imagery is processed and delivered shortly after satellite collection. For XRTech Group’s emergency tasking, data is delivered within 24 hours of image acquisition. Standard new tasking delivers within 7 days and archive imagery within 48 hours of order confirmation. XRTech’s Siwei Earth cloud platform processes 50 TB daily to ensure no processing delays.
How much does high-resolution satellite photos cost?
Archive imagery starts at $1/km² for 2m wide-area multispectral data and $20/km² for 30cm super high resolution optical. New tasking starts at $2/km² and $30/km² respectively. Priority collection for 30cm is $45/km² and emergency is $80/km². Additional charges apply for cloud cover guarantees, off-nadir angle specifications, and 8-band multispectral configuration. A free sample tile is included with every formal quote.
How do I buy high-resolution satellite imagery from XRTech Group?
Submit your Area of Interest, preferred resolution, image type, and date range by email or quote form. XRTech responds within 1.5 hours with pricing and a free sample tile so you can verify quality before committing. Archive imagery delivers in 48 hours and new tasking in under 7 days.
What is the minimum order for archive satellite imagery?
The minimum order for archive satellite imagery at XRTech Group is 25 km². This applies to all resolution tiers — 30cm, 50cm, 80cm and 2m. Archive orders are delivered within 48 hours of approval and pricing starts at $1 per km² for 2m resolution.
What is the minimum order area for new satellite tasking?
The minimum order area for new satellite tasking is 100 km². This is the industry standard across all major commercial providers. XRTech offers standard tasking from $8/km², priority tasking from $37/km² and emergency same-day capture from $80/km².
Can I buy satellite imagery for a small area below 25 km²?
The minimum purchasable area for satellite imagery is 25 km² for archive data. This means even if your area of interest is smaller, you pay for a minimum of 25 km². XRTech reviews each request individually and can advise the most cost-efficient option for small areas — contact the team to discuss your AOI.
Why is the minimum order for new satellite tasking higher than archive imagery?
New satellite tasking requires scheduling an orbital pass, uploading commands to the satellite, guaranteeing cloud-free conditions and processing fresh imagery — all of which have fixed costs independent of area size. A 100 km² minimum ensures these fixed costs are covered. Archive imagery has already been collected, so the processing overhead is lower and the minimum is 25 km².
What is XRTech Group’s satellite imagery coverage area?
XRTech provides global satellite imagery coverage through over 130+ partner satellites. No matter where your project is, you can buy satellite images with confidence and high accuracy.
Can I buy satellite imagery for any country in the world?
Yes. XRTech Group’s 130+ satellite constellation delivers global coverage with no geographic restrictions. Unlike US providers subject to ITAR controls, XRTech can supply high-resolution satellite imagery to customers in any country — including North America, South America, Europe, Australia, Nigeria, India, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Kenya, Vietnam, Indonesia and across Africa, the Middle East and Asia. Archive data is globally available back to 1999, and new tasking can be scheduled for any location on Earth.
What is the difference between archive satellite imagery and new satellite tasking?
Archive satellite imagery is data already captured and stored — available immediately at lower cost, starting from $1/km². It is ideal for historical change detection, base map creation, environmental monitoring and media. New satellite tasking means scheduling a satellite to capture fresh imagery of your area of interest on a date you define. Tasking costs more (from $8/km²) but delivers cloud-free, current imagery at the exact resolution you specify, including stereo and tri-stereo options for 3D modelling.
